Listen to the Music

Please enjoy some of demo tracks which cover a wide range of the musical styles we play.  From up-beat dance tracks like “Just Can’t Get Enough” to love songs to jazz to our instrumental cover of “A Thousand Years”, inspired by The Piano Guys.

I’ll write some program notes about our arrangements next time I get the chance and share the inspirations behind these arrangements.  In the meantime please take a listen. All tracks recorded at String Fever Studio, Adelaide, where we also record string lines for tracks, ads and film-scores!

If you want to make a comment you can send an email or private message us on our “String Fever” Facebook page.  Requests are welcomed – our songlist expands daily.

Haven’t Met You Yet

We like to play as much feel-good music as possible, and this great song by Michael Bublé really does make us smile.  The opening is a simple but perfectly written pattern which works so well for cello and piano.  Then Jacqui gets to have a ball later on imitating a full brass band on the cello.

December 1963 (Oh, What a Night!)

“Everything old is new again.”  This has become one of our most requested songs since the musical Jersey Boys came out.  Jersey Boys has also given Frankie Valli’s career a whole new lease of life, which has got to be a good thing!”

A Thousand Years

According to the infinite wisdom of the interweb this tune is currently the most requested piece to be played for a bride to walk down the aisle.  Whatever happened to “Here Comes the Bride”????  Although we’ve never seen The Twilight Saga movies we thank them for the popularity of this beautiful music.

Runaway

Never shying from a challenge, Jacqui plays the Musitron solo from this 1961 smash hit on the cello.   Don’t be confused, this is not the sweet ballad by Irish group The Corrs (also in our repertoire).  This is the song where Del Shannon sings “I wa-wa-wa-wa-wonder” in a really high voice.

I Saw Her Standing There

After a gig in Mulwala by the Victoria/NSW border a guy came up to us in utter astoundment.  “I couldn’t believe it when you played the exact George Harrison guitar solo on the cello,” he spurted, “that’s beyond cool!”

Sway

by Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé

Sway

No, this song was not written by Michael Bublé.  Or Dean Martin.  Or even Frank Sinatra.  The credit goes to Mexican songwriting team Luis Demetrio and Pablo Beltran Ruiz.  You knew that, right?

I’m Yours

This is one of our favourites because it never fails to put a smile on people’s faces.  We perform it in the vocal version you can listen to here and also as an instrumental piece with a cello lead.

It’s Still Rock’n’Roll To Me

“Everybody’s talkin’bout the new sound ..”  Jacqui’s cello starts as a bass then transforms into a screaming sax for that memorable solo.

(Good Riddance) Time of Your Life

While we were performing on the Crown Princess for four months in Alaska, another of the ship’s musicians came up to us all excited .. “Have a listen to this song by Green Day – its got cello in it!  You’ve gotta do it”.  And we’ve been doing it ever since.

Just Can’t Get Enough

We like experimenting with as many different sounds as we can.  Hope you like our version of this 80s electro-dance smash hit.

Candle in the Wind

This is the original version of this Elton John classic, inspired by the life and death of Marilyn Monroe.  Brenton also does a full Elton John tribute show called Elton by Brenton .
